Escape to the quiet mountains and rejuvenate your spirit with art, nature, and peaceful reflection

4 Days of Himalayan Serenity

Dates: To Be Announced

The Slow Life Himalayan Retreat offers an immersive, hands-on experience where self-exploration meets the gentle rhythm of slow living in the majestic Dharamshala valley. Through evidence-based mindfulness, nature therapy, and intuitive art, you are invited to unplug from everyday chaos and align your mind, body, and soul. As you journey inward to cultivate clarity, calm, confidence, courage, and creativity, you will also immerse yourself in the authentic spirit and quiet serenity of the Himalayas.

Our thoughtfully crafted sessions are designed to connect you deeply with both your inner self and the timeless wisdom and natural heritage of Himachali culture. From savoring wholesome, authentic Himachali Dham to engaging in sacred river rituals, Gaddi Tribe dance and ancient Tibetan Art in a monastery, every experience is crafted to ground you in the land and its heritage. As you step away from the noise of daily life and sync with the natural rhythms of the mountains, you will cultivate a profound sense of gratitude, presence, and inner harmony.

Day 1

The Beginning

Ice-breaker & Intention Setting: We commence the retreat with ice-breakers, getting to know each other, and setting the intention for the retreat. Nature Walk & Village Exploration: Experience the joy of slow-living in rural India, relax , reflect within and enjoy as you walk through farms, canals, old temples. Flow- A Sensory Colour Play: An immersive, blindfolded art ritual where gentle sounds guide movement, helping you create from feeling, not form. A Hygge Evening to Remember: What could be a better hygge experience than a bonfire on a chilly night in the Himalayas. Groove on to classic music, share the stories and laughter forging new friendships. Welcome Dinner: Indulge in a special welcome dinner and retire for the day

Day 3

Heritage Art

Mindful Movenent & Breathwork session by the river: Wake up to align your energies in lap of mother nature. We start the day with mindful releasing movements, energising breathwork and swara meditation. Tibetan Monastery Visit with Workshop: We step into a living monastery dedicated to preserving Tibetan art and wisdom. Wander through serene courtyards and sacred spaces, slowing down to observe craft as meditation. You’ll then immerse yourself in a traditional wood painting workshop, guided gently through form and colour. Each participant creates a small hand-painted piece. A quiet, tactile memory to take back home. Flute Meditation With Journaling: This evening, you would experience something unique, flute meditation. Savour your tea and get lost in the melodious tunes of flute. This would be followed by a journaling session. Cultivate a mindset of gratitude with guided journaling sessions. Gaddi Dance: This night we enjoy and appreciate the traditional vibrant dance by Gaddi tribe performers. Learn about their graceful movements and join in for some fun.

Day 2

Nature & Calm

Yoga & Breathwork session by the River: Align yourself to the energies and elements of nature through guided Surya Namaskar and Somatic Yogasanas alongside a beautiful stream. River Plunge: Rejoice in the river plunge pool near the property. Let your inner child live the moments of pure, unadulterated joy of bathing in a natural pool. Art Picnic by the River: The Slow Life Retreat would be incomplete without its signature art picnic! Bring out your creative spirit and indulge in this enchanting art of painting by the river, a picnic set-up to soak in the beauty of slow living. Vocal Sound Healing: After a blissful evening and delightful dinner, immmerse in the ancient wisdom of healing through voice. While the Tibetan monks have been practicing it since centuries, we learn the basics of sound projection onto energy centers.

Day 4

The Slow-lifers' Rules & Values that we follow

At The Slow Life, we believe, we are not just a part of nature but we are nature. And thus, we ensure we leave no carbon footprint behind as a thank you to the forest, animals and locals thriving at our retreat locarions.

  • We recycle every plastic wrapper including your canvas covers, protein bars or snack wrappers. Everything is collected and recycled at Jagruth Tech, Mysuru. Ensure to handover all recyclable things to the facilitators and leave nothing behind in the dustbin.

  • Throwing trash, including cigarette buds isn't appreciated.

  • A lot of you love taking plant cuttings with you as a memory but ensure to pluck no flowers, fruits or plants without permission or reasonable intention.

  • We do not encourage our associated properties to offer use-and-throw bathroom essentials and appreciate all participants for carrying their own personal toiletries and skincare that they choose after detailed research.

  • Refill & Hydrate : It is mandatory to carry your refillable bottle to reduce single use plastic. We do not offer single use plastic bottles during our retreats. Refilling facilities are available.

  • No animals must be harmed or teased for fun. We respect and maintain silence in and around the property post-sunset. We must not disrupt any nocturnal activities during our presence in their territory.

  • Ethical Community Engagement: Interactions with local villagers and native environment must ensure deep respect, privacy, cultural appreciation, and zero economic or social exploitation of local communities. Always ask before taking pictures/let our facilitators lead as we take prior permission.

  • You can carry pencils, crayons and chalk sticks if you have the habit of giving little something to village kids.

  • Shopping etiquettes: We all end up shopping something local while travelling, carry an extra bag for your shopping, value the efforts while buying agricultural and artisanal products. Extreme bargaining is disrespectful.
